Women's swimming sits in fourth place after first day of competition
MINNEAPOLIS - The Big Ten Women's Swimming events started today with the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay. After just two events, the Badgers are currently in fourth place with 102 points.
The day started with the 200 Medley Relay, where the combined efforts of Kaylyn Schoof, Jenna Silvestri, Izzy Lampre and Mara Newman resulted in a fifth place finish wih a season best time of 1:38.64.
The women's team went on to the next event to post another season best time, but this time for the 800 Free Relay. The team of Lillie Hosack, Phoebe Bacon, Alana Palmer and Emily Ecker placed fourth with a time of 7:04.91.

Tomorrow the diving competition begins for both men's and women's teams, along with the 200-yard Individual Medley, 50-yard Freestyle, 500-yard Freestyle and 400-yard Medley Relay for women's swimming.
Head Coach Yuri Suguiyama: "We had a strong start to the meet! Our 200 Medley Relay went a season best by two seconds and posted a finished three places higher than last year. Lillie Hosack posted the fields fastest leadoff split in the 800 Free Relay and the rest of the relay posted season best times to help us place fourth. Our team left th pool deck excited for the next few days."
