Redshirt senior shares favorite golf lesson and memory
MADISON, Wis.— Nick Robinson, a redshirt senior from Palos Verdes, California, shares with us a look into his life as a Badger.
Favorite tournament you've played in?
White Sands Intercollegiate (Bahamas). Competing in the Bahamas last fall was one of the coolest experiences in my four-plus years as a Badger. Playing well obviously helps, but rooming with my longtime roommate Pete Kuhl and playing a one-of-a-kind golf course made the experience unforgettable.Â
What is something golf has taught you?
Humility. Golf has a funny way of always giving you something to chew on. Even when you play well, all you can think about is that one shot that didn't go right and what you would do if you could have a second chance.Â
What is your favorite golf memory?
Committing to play golf at Wisconsin. All I have ever wanted since I was a kid was to play golf at the Division I level. I knew shortly into my visit on campus that Wisconsin was where I wanted to be. When calling Coach Burcin to let him know I was committing, I was alongside my family and felt a sense of pride in myself I have never felt before. It was a moment I will never forget.Â
Why did you choose to attend Wisconsin?
The combination to compete in the Big Ten, while living in the best college town in the world. Growing up a self-described sports-nut, Wisconsin athletics has a level of prestige all over the country. Competing in an athletic department that has perennial national championship contenders across all sports, while living in the best college town in the world makes choosing Wisconsin the obvious choice. Not only was it an obvious choice, but it was the best decision I have ever made.
