BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Badgers traveled to Bloomington, IN, to compete in the Hoosier Hills Invitational.
Freshman
Abdullahi Hassan had another first-place finish this week as he won the 600-meter run, crossing in 1 minute, 18.59 seconds. His time ties a 21-year-old Canadian Junior record. Fellow freshman
Davis Wenthe came in right behind Hassan, securing silver in 1:20.45.
Austin Rendon won the 800-meter run, breaking the tape in 1:51.26. This time places him at No.3 in the Big Ten.
Andrew Stone secured silver in the shot put with a throw of 60 feet, 10 inches, which ranks fifth in the Big Ten this season. Freshman
Jason Swarens came in eighth in the shot put with a throw of 47-1 1/2.
Canon Melstrand brought home bronze in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-5 3/4.
George Ghafari and
Connor Barfknecht both competed in the high jump. Ghafari came in third with a jump of 6-4 3/4. Barfknecht came in right behind with a clearance of 6-2 3/4.
Dan Ufearo and
Cole Hooper both competed in the weight throw. Ufearo placed fourth with a throw of 61-10. Hooper came in behind him with a throw of 56-02.50.
Ansel Fellman and
Nick Hruskoci both ran the mile with Fellman crossing the line in eighth place in 4:17.40 while Hruskoci came in not far behind with a time of 4:26.89.

The Badgers travel to Iowa City, Iowa, next weekend to compete in the Hawkeye Classic on Friday and Saturday. It is Wisconsin's final tune-up before the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-27 at The Spire in Geneva, Ohio.
