Badgers' battle Cornhuskers to a 0-0 draw

On a rainy day in Lincoln, Wisconsin and Nebraska play 110 minutes

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team battled Nebraska to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon in Lincoln.

Wisconsin's (3-2-1, 3-2-1 Big Ten) Claire Odmark had two early shots on goal, both rolling into the arms of the Nebraska keeper. Emma Jaskaniec attempted a header that was blocked by the Cornhuskers (1-2-2, 1-2-2 Big Ten) in the first half. Halle Fiedler also took a shot that ended up wide of the goal in the frame.

In the first 45 minutes of the contest, both sides played fairly evenly with possession favoring the Cornhuskers. The battle for opportunities changed in the second with more aggressive play by the Wisconsin defense.

In the 65th minute, a cross from midfield found Cameron Murtha, who passed it to Emma Jaskaniec in the box, but she was tackled just before she could attempt a shot on goal. Moments later, Nebraska rushed down the field and threatened the Badgers' defense, but the team forced a corner kick and did not give up a second-half goal.
On a corner kick in the 70th minute, Halle Fiedler attempted to cross into the box, but it curved in and the keeper pushed the ball away from the action giving Fiedler a credited shot on goal.

During the first overtime period, the Cornhuskers maintained most of the control, but the back line narrowed Nebraska to only one shot on goal in the 10 minutes. In the second period, the Badgers kept the ball on their offensive side of the field during the majority of the game, but were unable to connect a shot on goal.

Jordyn Bloomer recorded two saves on the day with one coming in the first half and the other in the first overtime. Nebraska outshot Wisconsin 11-6 in the contest.
