MADISON, Wis. — The Badgers are headed to Iowa City for the Hawkeye Invitational on April 17-18.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin finished eighth out of 16 teams at the Boilermaker Intercollegiate on April 10-11. Sam Anderson was the top finisher for the Badgers, coming in tied for fourth with a final score of 213 (-3). Also in the top-25 was fellow senior Griffin Barela who finished tied for 23rd with a 219 (+3). Robbie Morway and Ryan Smith competed in the individual event. Morway finished T-15 with a 219 (+3) and R. Smith was T-21 with a 221 (+5).
2. The Tournament: The Hawkeye Invitational is hosted by the University of Iowa at Finkbine Golf Course. Play for both Saturday and Sunday will be shotgun format and start at 8:30 a.m. CT. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.
3. The Course: Finkbine Golf Course is located just west of the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City, Iowa. The 7,157-yar, par-72 course was designed by Robert Bruce Harris and is managed by Troon Golf. Finkbine opened in 1955 and is home to the Hawkeyes. The course hosted the men's Big Ten Championship in 1992 and 2002.
4. The Field: Competing in the Hawkeye Invitational are Ball State, Creighton, DePaul, Drake, Grand Canyon, Iowa, Kansas, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, Toledo and Wisconsin. Playing for the Badgers are Sam Anderson, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Nick Robinson and Coalter Smith.
