Badgers head to Crooked Stick
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin is set to compete in the Big Ten Championship on April 30 - May 2. The tournament will take place at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana and is the final scheduled tournament for the season.
Here are the five things to know before the team tees off on Friday:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers competed in the Hawkeye Invitational on April 17 and 18. The team finished fourth in a field of 12 after shooting a two-under-par 862. Four Badgers finished in the top-25, with freshman Cameron Hussplacing eighth to lead the team and carding his first top-10 finish. He shot a four-under-par 212. Robbie Morway and Nick Robinson finished T12 and Sam Anderson finished in 22nd.
2. The Course: Crooked Stick Golf Club is a 7,325-yard par-72 course. The course was designed by Pete Dye, his very first of many course designs over his career. The course was completed in 1967 and has hosted a slew of tournaments, including the 2012 and 2016 BMW Championships.
3. The Tournament: The Big Ten Championship began in 1920. Wisconsin has claimed three titles, in 1957, 1993 and 1994. The last time teams were able to compete in the Championship, Wisconsin finished in 14th, shooting a 917. Play for each day will begin with tee times off holes No. 1 and 10. Friday and Saturday tee times will begin at 8 a.m. CT. Sunday tee times will start at 7 a.m. CT.
4. The Field: Competing in the tournament are all 14 Big Ten Schools — Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Competing for Wisconsin are Sam Anderson, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Robbie Morway, Nick Robinson and Coalter Smith.
