Badgers close out B1G Florida Invite with a bang

JACKSONVILLE, Flor. - The Badgers closed out day two of the B1G Florida Invitational with a bang on Saturday. Freshman Kiley Robbins broke a school record in the 100-meter dash while six additional Badgers produced podium finishes and multiple athletes set personal records.

Badgers claim spots on UW all-time outdoor performance list

Robbins continues her impressive rookie season and today was no exception. After setting the indoor school reocrd in the 60-meter dash, the Milwaukee native needed only one meet to break the school record in the 100-meter dash. Robbins crossed the line in 11.53 seconds to finish third overall. Her time improved upon the previous best mark of 11.55 set by Ebony McClendon in 2017 and Shuntia Lucas in 2005.

Sophomore Destiny Huven secured silver in the women's 100-meter hurdle final, crossing the line in 13.43. Her time puts her at No.2 on Wisconsin's all-time outdoor performance list, just behind Deanna Latham's time of 13.27 set in 2013. 

The women's 4x100-meter relay consisting of Armoni Brown, Taylor Gilling, Ali Dorn and Huven finished fifth in 46.12, which puts them at No.6 on Wisconsin's all-time outdoor performance list. Gilling also placed fifth in the 200 meters in 24.25, which ranks 10th all time.

Podium finishes

Bianca Stubler secured silver and set a personal record in the women's 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:00.11. Stubler beat her previous record of 1:01.18 that she ran in 2019.

The men's 4x800-meter relay consisting of Ansel Fellman, Austin Rendon, Nick Hruskoci and Tannor Wagner, snagged a second-place finish with Wagner in 7:34.46.

Josie Schaefer brought home bronze in the women's invitational discus throw with a massive throw of 172 feet, 11 inches.  Schaefer, in her first outdoor season in two years, was only two feet off of her personal best throw of 174-3.

Tia Dorshorst placed third in the women's pole vault, clearing 13-5 1/4. Hailey Orlowski also competed in the pole vault, placing sixth with a clearance of 12-9 1/2.

Peyton Frankenreider brought home bronze in the men's triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 47-4 1/2.

Top-10 finishes

Junior Madison Mooney finished fourth in the women's 800-meter run, crossing the line in 2:07.72. 

The men's 4x100-meter relay consisting of Jon Burt, Max Peckenschneider, Lawrence Johnson and Colin Enz placed fitth in a time of 41.17. Johnson also secured a sixth-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash finals, speeding past the line in 10.46.He was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay, teaming with Abdullahi, Jon Burt and Enz to place eight in 3:19.41. Peckenschneider also placed 10th in the men's 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 49.81.

Up Next

The Badgers will travel to Bloomington, Indiana, to compete in the B1G Invite Invite #2 on April 9-10.
