Five Things to Know: Boilermaker Invitational

Badgers head to Purdue to take on Kampen
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin will be competing in the Boilermaker Invitational on April 10-11. This is one of two tournaments remaining for the team before they head to the Big Ten Championship.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers finished in sixth place out of 16 teams in Hootie at Bulls Bay on March 28-30. The team shot 286-291-288 over the three rounds to finish at just one-over-par with an 865. Freshman Cameron Huss and senior Nick Robinson tied for the team lead, finishing in 18th and one-under-par at 215.
2. The Course: The team and individual tournaments are set to take place on separate courses, both at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex which is home to the Purdue Boilermakers. The teams will be playing at Kampen Golf Course, a 7,405-yard par-72 course designed by Pete Dye. The individuals will be playing Ackerman-Allen, a 7,500-yard par-72 course, also designed by Pete Dye. The courses hosted the 2008 NCAA Men's Championship tournament.
3. The Tournament: The Boilermaker Invitational is in its 17th year (2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The Badgers are making their 14th appearance in the event and were set to compete last year before the season came to a halt. In 2019, Badger alum Jordan Hahn was the top finisher for the tournament, shooting a nine-under-par 135 to bring home first place. Wisconsin's best finish at the tournament was a fourth-place finish in 2009 after shooting 866 (+2).
4. The Field: Competing in the team event are Ball State, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Illinois (6), Illinois State, Indiana, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Wisconsin. Competing for Wisconsin in the team event are Sam Anderson, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Nick Robinson and Coalter Smith. Competing in the individual event for Wisconsin are Robbie Morway and Ryan Smith, who is making his collegiate debut at this event.
