CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Alexa Westley finished ninth in the 10,000 meters and freshman Chloe Lindeman placed 11th in the hammer throw to lead the Wisconsin women's track and field team on day one of the Big Ten Conference OUtdoor Championships.
Westley crossed the line in 34 minutes, 3.72 seconds as the only UW runner in the longest race of the championship.
In the hammer, Lindeman threw 176 feet, 4 inches for her 11th-place finish. Teammate Olivia Roberts threw 176-1 to finish right behind Lindeman in 12th place.
Junior Bianca Stubler ran the fastest qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles, winning her heat in 58.53. Â
Sophomore Victoria Heiligenthal finished second in her heat and second overall in the 1500 meters in 4:22.75. Freshman Anna Schoesser placed 19th in the same event in 4:28.21.
Sophomore Taylor Gilling ran a personal best of 24.14 in the 200 meters but failed to advance with her 12th-place finish. Her time moves up to No. 7 on the UW all-time list.

Finals qualifiers

Heyroth competing in heptathlon
Sophomore Mackenzie Heyroth is in 14th place in the heptathlon after the first day of competition. She has 2,966 points after four events. Her best finish came in the shot put where she finished third with a personal best toss of 39-6 3/4. Teammate Jordan Hirsbrunner was forced to withdraw after two events due to injury.Up Next
