Jaskaniec leads Badgers past Jayhawks

Junior’s game-winning tally lifts Badgers to 2-0 start

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Thanks to Emma Jaskaniec's second-half goal, the Wisconsin women's soccer team surged past Kansas, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Rock Chalk Park.

After a quiet first half, the Badgers enjoyed a stellar second half, highlighted by Jaskaniec's first goal of the season. The junior midfielder scored in the 63rd minute off a feed from senior Cammie Murtha to break the scoreless deadlock.
Wisconsin had the first eight shots in the second half and ultimately outshot Kansas 13-5 during the game.

Notes To Know
- Jordyn Bloomer, who was named to the Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List earlier this week, stopped both shots she faced to earn her second-straight shutout. With her clean sheet on Sunday, Bloomer is now tied for third in school history with 28 career shutouts.
- All seven of Jaskaniec's career goals have been game-winning efforts.
- This marks the first time since the 2015 season that UW has started a season with a 2-0 record. In addition, this year is the first time UW has posted back-to-back shutouts to begin a season since the 2012 campaign when UW enjoyed three-straight clean sheets to open up the year.
- UW improved to 3-0 all time against Kansas.
