ST. PAUL — Thanks to a late second-half goal from
Jenna Kiraly, the Wisconsin women's soccer team rallied past Border Battle rival Minnesota, 2-1, on Saturday night at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
The Badgers (6-1-2, 1-0-0 Big Ten) extend their unbeaten streak against the Golden Gophers (4-1-3, 0-1-0 Big Ten) to 10 games thanks to Saturday's triumph.
The Gophers struck first with a goal in the 10th minute to go ahead 1-0, but their lead was short lived after
Emma Jaskaniec netted a goal for the Badgers in the 14th minute, assisted by
Natalie Viggiano.
The two rivals went into halftime knotted at 1-1 as Wisconsin racked up four shots and four corner kicks in the first half, outproducing Minnesota's one shot and two corner kicks.
In the second half,
Jenna Kiraly scored in the 81
st minute, her first of the year, to give UW a 2-1 lead.
Wisconsin battled in the final minutes to hold onto the lead and secure its first Big Ten victory of the season.
Goalkeeper
Jordyn Bloomer made four saves, all of which came in the second half, to pick up her sixth win of the year.
The Badgers tallied a total of nine shots and received eight corner kicks on the match while Minnesota recorded seven shots and five corner kick opportunities.

- Jaskaniec has a team-leading six goals and has scored in three-straight games.
- Viggiano has a three-game point streak (one goal, two assists)
- Kiraly now has three career game-winning goals.
