MADISON, Wis. – No. 8 Wisconsin heads into another tough conference matchup hosting No. 14 Michigan State on Friday night at the Kohl Center. The Badgers enter on a seven-game winning streak. Tip is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1.
Â
Before you head to the Kohl Center, here is the Starting Five:
Â
1.)Â B1G Road Win: The Badgers improved their record to 7-1 away from the Kohl Center this season with an 82-76 victory over Northwestern. Wisconsin shot a season-high 53 percent from 3-point range (9-for-17), which aided them past a Wildcat team that came into Tuesday's game rated No. 54 in the KenPom rankings. UW scored 70+ points in its fifth consecutive conference win, marking the first time that has happened since 1962.
Â
2.) Double-Digits: For the second time this season, all five of Wisconsin's starters scored in double-figures at Northwestern.
Johnny Davis led all Badgers with 27 points, while
Chucky Hepburn and
Tyler Wahl added 14 points.
Brad Davison scored 13 and
Steven Crowl finished with 10. Wahl grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in the victory, recording his first double-double of the season. Davis hit the 20-point mark for the 10th time in his sophomore campaign.
Â
3.) Quad 1 & 2 Wins: As the NET rankings adjust day-to-day, Wisconsin is continuing to build a strong resume. The Badgers hold a nation-leading 10 victories in Quad 1 (5-1) and Quad 2 (5-1) games.Â
Â
4.) Among the Top: Johnny Davis is the only player in the Big Ten to lead his team in points, rebounds, and assists. The La Crosse native is averaging 22.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest. The sophomore sensation has scored at least 25 points in five different games this season and is on track to be the first Badger since Michael Finley (1995) to average 20 points per game in a year.
Â
5.) Series History with MSU: Wisconsin trails the overall series with Michigan State, 83-66, but holds a 47-26 advantage when the matchup is played in Madison. Last season, the teams met in East Lansing and the Badgers earned an 85-76 win over the Spartans. UW has won four of the last six games played between the two at the Kohl Center.
