MADISON, Wis. – No. 23 Wisconsin is on a four-game winning streak and looks to keep things rolling strong in Maryland on Sunday.
Before the Badgers head to College Park, here is the Starting Five:
1.) Electric Badgers: Led by 26 points from
Johnny Davis, UW beat Big Ten foe Iowa, 87-78, Thursday night at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin out-rebounded the Hawkeyes, 43-26, and scored 13 points off eight turnovers. The Badgers held the lead for 38:05 and improved to 3-1 in conference play.
2.) Double-Digits: Johnny Davis (26 pts),
Brad Davison (18 pts),
Tyler Wahl (16 pts),
Steven Crowl (12 pts), and
Chucky Hepburn (11 pts) all scored in double figures to lead the Badgers to victory over the Hawkeyes. The last time five players scored in double figures for UW came in a 73-69 loss to Purdue (3/21/21).
3.) Making it Rain: Wooden Award Midseason Top-25 nominee
Johnny Davis is riding a six-game streak scoring 20+ points in games. The La Crosse native leads UW in points (22.6), rebounds (7.4), assists (2.8), and steals (1.4) this season, and ranks second amongst all Division I players in points per game. He was also one rebound shy from recording his third straight double-double against Iowa.
4.) Building the Resume: Thursday's win marked seven Quad 1/Quad 2 and KenPom Top 100 victories for UW this season. Coming into the game, Iowa was No. 23 in the KenPom rankings and No. 25 in the NET rankings. Wisconsin matches Alabama for most Quad 1/Quad 2 wins in the country.
5.) Scouting the Terrapins: Wisconsin holds an 11-7 advantage in the overall series against Maryland dating back to 1931. The teams last met in College Park a year ago where UW came out on top with a 61-55 victory. The last seven meetings between the Badgers and Terrapins have been decided by single digits.
