Badgers finish invitational T14 with a score of -11

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Wisconsin men's golf finished out the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational with a score of 11-below-par (290-285-278=853), placing them T14 out of 16 teams. Maxime Legros led the Badgers with a -9.

Monday, Oct. 17

Round 3

The Badgers shot a team-best round of 278 (-10) in the third and final round, moving them up a place in the leaderboard to T14. Yet again improving his score and leading the Badgers was Legros, who shot a -5 in the third round to bring his total score to a -9 to T9. Legros has had three top-15 finishes in four tournaments this fall. Cameron Huss shot a -3, improving his overall score to a -3 to T47. Ryan Smith found himself not far behind Huss, shooting a -1 in the last round, bringing his final score to a -1 to T53. Also shooting a -1 was Daniel Aas, who improved his score by six strokes to end T77 with a +5. Rounding out the lineup for the Badgers was Max Schwarz, who shot a +1 in the third round to end the competition in 81st place with a +8.

Sunday, Oct. 16

Round 1

Wisconsin was led by graduate student Legros, who shot a -1 (71), in the first round of play, while Huss, Smith and Aas each shot a +1 (73). Schwarz, who led the Badgers last weekend in the Purdue Fall Individual, shot a +5 (77).

Round 2

Legros led the team in round two, improving his score by two strokes to tally a -3 (69), bringing him to a -4 at the end of day one. The French native will start the second day of play tied for 21st. Huss and Smith shot identical rounds in both round one (+1) and two (-1), placing them at even par and T54 when day one ended. Aas shot a +5 in round two, bringing him to a +6 to place 79th. Right behind, was Schwarz with a +2 in the second round, placing him T80 with a +7.
