EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Wisconsin men's soccer team lost to Michigan State on Sunday in a tough Big Ten outing for the team.

Straight from the Pitch – Head Coach Neil Jones
"Credit to Michigan State for the win today. While we're disappointed that we didn't come away with at least a point, our staff is absolutely loving coaching this group of young men. They're coachable, team first oriented, and today we played some of the best soccer we've played this season. We're close to earning better results, we just have to keep pushing."

How it happened
Right out the gate this game looked as if it was the one that would change the Badgers' misfortunes in the Big Ten so far. The team came out flying and it seemed like they would surely score first. The Badgers dominated possession and had multiple opportunities within the first 10 minutes. The game plan seemed simple, get the ball out wide and then put crosses into the box. The Spartans even seemed overwhelmed at times, but they only needed one opportunity to go 1-0 up. A minute before the half (44th minute) Louis Sala put a cross into the back of the net; going into the half the Spartans had one shot on target and one goal.

Notes
- Wisconsin had four more shots total, three more shots on goal and three more corners than the Spartans
- The Badgers are scoreless in the past four games
