First 1,000 fans get free scarves as Badgers welcome Wolverines for conference contest
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's hockey program hopes to 'Pac the Mac' on Friday when the Michigan Wolverines visit McClimon Soccer Complex.
The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free scarf to help cheer on the Badgers.
Here are five things to know
1. LOOKING BACK: Last time out against Michigan, the Badgers fell 1-0 in Ann Arbor on Oct. 15, 2021. Through 30 games all-time, Wisconsin trails by a record of 9-16-5, however the Badgers beat Michigan the last time the teams met in Madison, grabbing a 3-2 victory on April 11, 2021. The Badgers trailed 1-0 and 2-1 in that game, but scored twice in the final 18 minutes to pull out the victory.
Carter Abbott made three saves in the game, while Tim Bielic and Murat Calkap both helped out the scoring with assists.
2. PLAYERS TO WATCH: Captain Tim Bielic is a pure workhorse for the Badgers and is the glue that keeps the midfield together. You will rarely ever see No. 10 not running, whether it be to win the ball back on defense or making a run forward on offense. Bielic may only have two assists on the season but he provides much more to the Badgers than his stats suggest.
For Michigan, senior midfielder Inaki Rodriguez is one to watch. The Chilean is a focal point for the Wolverines' midfield and is a major threat going forward. He has two goals in 11 games so far this season, nine of which he started.
3. PAC THE MAC: Friday an important conference game against Michigan, but it is also 'Pac the Mac'. The first 1,000 attendees will receive a free Wisconsin scarf to help cheer on the Badgers. Make sure to come out this Friday night at McClimon to participate.
4. BADGERS ON TV: Three upcoming Wisconsin men's soccer games will air on television beginning with its Friday, Oct. 14, contest at Maryland. The game at Maryland airs on ESPNU at 4 p.m. CT. UW's home game on Tuesday, Oct. 18 against Indiana (7 p.m.), as well as its road contest on Sunday, Oct. 23, at Northwestern (3 p.m.) will air on BTN.
5. HOW TO FOLLOW: The game against Michigan (3-5-3) is at 7 p.m. and can be streamed on BTN+. Fans can also follow along via live stats or in person at McClimon Soccer Complex where admission is free.
