AMES, Iowa — No. 14 Wisconsin did not disappoint at the 2022 Iowa State Harold Nichols Cyclone Open at Hilton Coliseum on Saturday in Ames, Iowa.

The Badgers had 16 wrestlers competing attached for the University of Wisconsin (UW) in the brackets of the highly-competitive tournament and future Badger Brock Bobzien, who recently signed his NIL to wrestle at Wisconsin in fall 2023, competed unattached for the Wisconsin Regional Training Center.

The Badger heavyweights shined. Peter Christensen finished in first place in his respective bracket, beating out fellow Badger Gannon Rosenfeld (second) in the championship bout. Brooks Empey and Jonah Schmidtke finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Seven other Badgers placed as well. Freshman Felix Lettini (141) came in fourth place and sophomore Jack Severin (141) came in fifth, combining for 19 team points in the open division 141 bracket. Other Badgers to place include Aidan Medora in sixth, Drew Scharenbrock fifth, Kevin Meicher fifth, Josh Otto fourth, and Michael Talshahar sixth.

Future Badger Brock Bobzien secured his first win in a collegiate tournament, beating Jace Rhodes of Iowa. Badgers Dylan Coy, Nicolar Rivera, Cody Goebel, Gavin Model, and Graham Calhoun also competed.

The Badgers now focus their attention on the Garden State Grapple which is set for December 4, in Newark, N.J.
