PRINCETON, N.J. - The Wisconsin men's rowing program sent three boats to wrap up the fall racing season at the Princeton Chase on Sunday and put up a successful performance.
In a 40-boat field, the Wisconsin A entry in the first round of the championship eight finished third with a time of 13:25.706, 25 seconds behind the winning Syracuse A team entry. Wisconsin B was not far behind, finishing 15th with a time of 14:01.022.
In the second round of the championship eight the Badgers shined, finishing first and second in a 22-boat field. Wisconsin A finished in 13:19.681 with Wisconsin B right behind them, coming in with a time of 13:35.310.
The Badgers also competed in the championship four, coming in 21st place of a 32-boat field. Their time was 15:33.197.
Up next: The Badgers get the winter off from racing and are next scheduled to compete on March 25 at Marietta in Ohio.

Head Coach Chris Clark
"It worked out for the Badgers pretty well today.
"In the first race the guys thought they had an excellent race and they really got after it so we are very happy with that. There's one big turn and we were blocked for quite a long time by the boat ahead of us that didn't yield so that cost us a lot. We had to go outside and around a corner so I was happy to see that because the margin was a little too big between Syracuse, Princeton and us. That accounted for a lot of it.
"In regards to the second round, Syracuse and Princeton broke down into fours and we stayed in eights so the field was diluted, but nonetheless we took first and second. Our first eight was six seconds faster in the second race and the second eight were 26 seconds faster. Part of that is there's six sophomores who are learning on the job, so it was an excellent performance by them.
"We like the Head of the Charles. It's a festival and a reunion, but this is definitely a race we do better in because it's just a couple more weeks of training. The results showed on the water. We are well pleased and look forward to the next period of training and Texas starting Dec. 28."
