Wisconsin falls to Florida State in ACC/B1G Challenge

After late push, Badgers fall 92-87

MADISON, Wis. —  The University of Wisconsin women's basketball team competed against Florida State in the ACC/B1G Challenge Thursday night at the Kohl Center, and lost 92-87.

After three quarters of struggling to score, the Badgers made a late push in the fourth quarter. They began on a 21-6 run and drained 10 of 20 shots from three. Their largest deficit of the game was 24 points which came with 4:32 left in the third quarter, but they came within three points of the Seminoles with 30.1 seconds remaining.

Julie Pospisilova took over late in the game managed to score five 3-pointers in quarter four. The senior notched a new career high in points with 32, with 22 of them coming in the fourth quarter. She also recorded a career high in 3-pointers made with eight. Pospisilova is the first Badger to score 30 points since Marsha Howard accomplished the feat on Feb. 3, 2019.

In the first three quarters of the game, Wisconsin had trouble on offense and found itself in a 19-point deficit heading into the final quarter. In a stellar offensive performance, the Badgers nearly erased the Seminoles' lead and played some of their strongest basketball of the season. In a resilient effort, Wisconsin was just three points away from Florida State, but in the end, its early struggles ultimately resulted in a defeat.

Wisconsin shot 45.5% (30-66) from the field, including 40.6% (13-32) from 3-point range. The Badgers scored 10 of 13 three-pointers in the fourth quarter alone.

Florida State shot 51.6% (32-62) from field-goal range, including 36.4% (8-22) from three and 74.1% (20-27) from the free-throw line. Ta'Niya Latson led the Seminoles offense with 27 points (10-17 FG, 1-5 3FG, 6-7 FT).
