Softball Announces 2023 Schedule

Badgers open 2023 in Mexico at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge

MADISON, Wis. – Badger softball head coach Yvette Healy has announced the 2023 schedule that features 16 home games at Goodman Diamond as well as five highly competitive tournaments leading up to Big Ten conference play.

"After advancing to the NCAA tournament in 6 of the last 8 full seasons, the Badgers are excited to make a run at a Big Ten Championship this spring," head coach Yvette Healy said. "After advancing to the NCAA Regional Championship game in Gainesville, Florida last year, the goal is host an NCAA regional at Goodman Diamond in May."

"This spring schedule is filled with marquee win opportunities. We open in Puerto Vallarta with huge games against Oregon, Ole Miss and BYU. We'll take on Louisville and Georgia Tech in the ACC/Big Ten match-up before facing North Carolina and Villanova in Florida. We'll close out our pre-Big Ten schedule in Austin taking on World Series powerhouses Alabama and Texas."

The Badgers are coming off another 30-win season and look to carry that same success into this upcoming spring. UW will open the season in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to face California Baptist and Brigham Young University on Feb. 9, and will then turn to the Oregon Ducks the next day in its opening games. BYU finished 42-10 a season ago earning a co-West Coast Conference (WCC) title, while Oregon wrapped up a 33-19 campaign and a Regional Final appearance.

Wisconsin will play in the Big10/ACC Challenge, FAU Joan Joyce Classic in Boca Raton, Fla., the Indiana Tournament, and will finish tournament play with the Texas Invite featuring  2022 Women's College World Series runners-up Texas Longhorns, and an Alabama program that has been to the WCWS 13 times in the last 21 years.

Big Ten play will officially start on March 24 in East Lansing, Mich. where the Badgers will take on Michigan State in a three-game set. The Badgers team will then host its first set of Big Ten games March 31-April 2 against the University of Illinois.
Wisconsin will host addition Big10 series against Northwestern (Apr. 14-16), Minnesota (Apr. 19 (DH)), and wrap up the regular season on Goodman against Iowa (May 5-7).

UW finished 30-20 a season ago, marking the seventh time under head coach Yvette Healy UW has eclipsed the 30-win mark. Among this season's returnees are Kayla Konwent, Maddie Schwartz, Fiona Girardot, Peyton Bannon, and Northern Illinois grad transfer Katie Keller.
