Before the Badgers hit the road, here is the Starting Five:

1. B1G OPENER: The Wisconsin men's basketball team had its first Big Ten game of the season Tuesday night hosting No. 13 Maryland (8-1). The Badgers came out on top with an 64-59 victory, handing the Terrapins their first loss of the season. Chucky Hepburn scored a game-high 13 points and added four rebounds. Steven Crowl (12 pts), Tyler Wahl (9 pts), and Jordan Davis (8 pts) were also top scorers for UW.

2. NO EASY BUCKETS: This season the Badgers have held five different opponents below 40% field-goal shooting, allowing foes an average of 59.8 points per game. Tuesday night was no exception, as Maryland came to the Kohl Center averaging 80.75 points per game but was held to 59 points (38.2% FG), its lowest since last January of last season.

3. FRESHMAN STANDOUT: Connor Essegian has quickly become a fan favorite for Badger fans. The freshman guard is currently shooting 44.4% (28-for-63) from the floor, including a team-best 48.7% (19-for-39) from 3-point range. Essegian is averaging 10 points per game off the bench.

4. SERIES WITH IOWA: Sunday's game will mark the 172nd all-time meeting between the Badgers and the Hawkeyes, as UW leads the all-time series, 86-85. Iowa has the advantage for games played in Iowa City, however, leading 53-30 all-time at home. Last season, Wisconsin hosted Iowa at the Kohl Center and earned an 87-78 win, which snapped a four-game win streak in the series by Iowa. In last year's meeting, Wahl tallied 16 points and nine rebounds, while Hepburn scored 11 points. UW is seekings its first win at Carver-Hawkeye Arena since 2018.

5. KNOW THE FOE: Iowa currently holds a 7-2 record, and Sunday will mark its first Big Ten game of the season. Iowa is coming off of a 75-56 win over in-state rival Iowa State on Thursday. The Hawkeyes are led by Kris Murray who is averaging 19.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, ranking third and second in those categories respectively among Big Ten players. The Hawkeyes lead the Big Ten scoring an average of 83.4 points per game, shooting 46.2% (237-513) from the floor.
