Wisconsin travels to New Jersey and Pennsylvania for a pair of weekend matches
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's tennis team is back on the road this weekend for a pair of Ivy League matches after going undefeated at home last week. The Badgers will travel to Princeton to take on the Tigers at 4 p.m. Friday and then to Philadelphia to play Penn at 11 a.m. Sunday.
1. Singles Sweeps: Four Badgers swept their singles positions last weekend, going 2-0 with wins against both Marquette and Drake. Tim Dzhurinskiy, Lenard Soha and Robin Parts each fought for a pair of two-set wins at Nielsen, swiftly taking wins and helping lead the Badgers (4-2 overall) to victory. Sebastian Vile, after a quick two-set win on Friday, won an exciting three-set tiebreaker over Evan Fragistas 6-2, 1-6, 7-5, to clinch the match against Drake on Sunday.
2. Badgers in the Rankings: Wisconsin's doubles duo of Vile and Parts is now ranked No. 55 in the ITA Division I men's doubles rankings. The pair are 3-1 at the second doubles spot, including a 6-3 win over No. 28-ranked Auburn's Jan Galka and Tyler Stice last month. Last weekend, the duo played in the No. 1 doubles position, going 1-1 with an easy 6-2 win over Marquette's Stefan Dragovic and Tin Krstulovic.
3. Our House!: The Badgers are undefeated at home, going 4-0 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium so far this season. The four wins include a 5-2 victory over North Dakota and a dominant 6-1 win against Marquette. Dzhurinskiy helped clinch the Badgers' 4-3 win over DePaul during opening weekend while most recently Vile clinched a 4-3 win for Wisconsin versus Drake.
