MADISON, Wis. – The Badgers look to bounce back this week beginning with a road contest against Indiana on Tuesday at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Before tip, here is the Starting Five:
1.) Last Time Out: Wisconsin had three players score in double figures (
Tyler Wahl – 23 points,
Steven Crowl – 12 points,
Johnny Davis – 11 points). Despite shooting 26-for-55 (47.3%), UW fell to a hot Rutgers team that notched its third-straight win over an AP top-25 team with a 73-65 win at the Kohl Center.
2.) Road Warriors: This season, the Badgers are 9-2 away from the Kohl Center. That includes wins at No. 3 Purdue, No. 17 Michigan State, and against No. 12 Houston in the Maui Invitational. In those three games,
Johnny Davis scored a total of 92 points. The sophomore guard is averaging 20.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season.
3.) Points in the Paint: The Badgers have outscored five of their last six opponents in the paint. Over that stretch, the team is averaging 31.0 points per game in the paint and have only allowed 26.0 point per game to other teams. Forward
Tyler Wahl has gone five straight contests scoring in double figures, including a career-high 23 points last time out against Rutgers.
4.) B1G Implications:Â Wisconsin sits in third place in the Big Ten conference standings with a 10-4 record looking to continue the battle for the Big Ten regular season title. Illinois is one game ahead of the Badgers at 11-3. A win against the Hoosiers on Tuesday would bring UW into a tie with Purdue in league play, as the Boilermakers sit a half game back from the Illini.
5.)Â Wisconsin vs. Indiana: The two programs will meet for the 176th time. Wisconsin trails the all-time series, 97-78, but UW has won four in a row over the Hoosiers, including a program best 22-point comeback victory earlier this season. The teams saw each other at the Kohl Center back in December where IU found themselves with a 42-20 lead late in the first half. The Badgers battled back and took the victory, 64-59.
