Five events to watch: Throwers compete in two events

Badgers head to Alabama and Ripon this weekend
Here are what to watch for this weekend.
1. DOUBLE DUTY FOR STONE: Junior Andrew Stone will be competing in the men's shot put in both meets this weekend. Stone won the shot put at the Illini Multi-Event on Jan. 21 with a personal best of 63 feet, 7 ½ inches. His toss ranks him second all time at Wisconsin and third in the Big Ten this season. At Ripon, he will be joined by teammates Sam Coil and Jason Swarens.
2. DOUBLE DUTY FOR SCHAEFER, TOO: Redshirt senior Josie Schaefer will also compete in both meets this weekend. Schaefer has a season best of 54-6 1/2 in the women's shot put, which ranks sixth in the Big Ten this season. The Baraboo native has an indoor career best of 59-4 1/4, set in 2021. On Saturday, Schaefer will be joined by teammate Chloe Lindeman.
3. LINDEMAN LEADS IN THE WEIGHT: Lindeman leads the Badger women in the weight throw at Ripon. She is ranked fourth all-time for Wisconsin with a personal best of 68-10, which ranks third in the Big Ten this season..Also competing will be Olivia Roberts, who is ranked fifth at Wisconsin and 10th in the Big Ten at 66-10, and Chikere Oduocha.
4. SUPER SAM: Transfer Sam Coil has made an immediate impact on the UW record book in the men's weight throw. At the Illini Invitational, Coil won the event with a personal best of 68-1 ½, ranking him fifth at Wisconsin and eighth in the Big Ten. Ranked ninth in the men's weight throw at UW with a toss of 62-10 1/2 is Dan Ufearo, who will also be competing on Saturday along with Cole Hooper and Jason Swarens.
