Five Things to Know: Briar's Creek Invitational

Badgers headed to South Carolina for Spring Break competition
MADISON, Wis.— Wisconsin will be competing in the Briar's Creek Invitational on March 14-15 in Charleston, S.C.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off.
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin hosted the Westbrook Invitational at Westbrook Golf Club on Feb. 27-28. The team finished tied for sixth in a field of 14 with a team score of 865 (+1) to tie the fifth-lowest 54-hole score in program history. Chloe Chan and Mackenzie Hahn led the Badgers, both finishing T9 with a four-under-par 212. The duo both set new career-lows for 18-, 36- and 54-holes and recorded their first career top-10 finish. Freshman Carly Carter recorded new career-lows for 36- and 54-holes and Nicole Ciskowski recorded a career-best 54-hole score. Wisconsin led the field in team par-three scoring and Chan led the field in individual par-three scoring.
2. The Course: Briar's Creek Golf Club is a private club located in Charleston, South Carolina. The course features water, marshes, wetlands and a variety of wildlife. The greens are known to be quick, part of the design done by Rees Jones. For the tournament, the course will be playing as a 6,116-yard par-72.
3. The Tournament: This is the ninth-annual Briar's Creek Invitational hosted by College of Charleston. Charleston won last year's event with an 873. Wisconsin has competed in other events hosted by College of Charleston but will make its first appearance in the Briar's Creek Invitational. Monday will include 36 holes of competition with a shotgun starting at 8 a.m. CT. Tuesday will be 18 holes of shotgun play starting at 7:45 a.m CT.
4. The Field: Competing in the tournament are Boston College, Campbell, Charleston, Charleston Southern, Colorado, East Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, NC State, Nebraska, Old Dominion, Penn State, Tulane, UCF and Wisconsin. Competing for Wisconsin is Chloe Chan, Nicole Ciskowksi, Mackenzie Hahn, Vanessa Ho and Emily Lauterbach. Carly Carter will be competing as an individual for Wisconsin.
