Badgers get first races in for the spring season

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. -- After a grinding week of Spring Break training, the Badgers took to the racecourse to launch their 2022 season in the Atomic City.

The past week of busting the rust on Melton Lake felt like a welcome change of pace following a long winter of hard work on the ergs, but today's racing left the Badgers searching for their speed on the water.

"The fast teams we are up against aren't doing us any favors, but we are happy to see stronger racing execution [in the] afternoon versus the morning races," said Head Coach Bebe Bryans.

Wisconsin was led by both novice eights and the varsity four, finishing second in their respective morning and afternoon races.

"Racing today was dedicated to our freshmen and first-time Badger racers," Bryans said. "Tomorrow is a new day, and we will show up more ready to race! Thanks to all the fans and parents that showed up to support us - go POWR and go Badgers."
