Wisconsin makes 10th appearance in tournament
MADISON, Wis. - The Badgers are set to make their 10th appearance in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational on March 27-29.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off.
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers finished 14th at the Schenkel Invitational last week with an 881 (+17). Griffin Barela was the top finisher for Wisconsin, carding an even-par 216 to finish T18. This was his 12th career top-20 finish and his fourth of the 2021-22 season.
2. The Course: Bulls Bay Golf Club is located in Awendaw, South Carolina. Designed by Golf World's 1998 Architect of the Year, Mike Strantz, the course is centered in the Lowcountry near Charleston.
3. The Tournament: Last season, the Badgers finished sixth at Hootie at Bulls Bay with a one-over-par 865. Current volunteer coach Nick Robinson and sophomore Cameron Huss led the team, each carding a one-under-par 215 to finish T19. NC State took home top honors last season with an 18-under-par 846. Sponsored by The Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, this tournament has been hosted since 2005.
4. The Field: Competing in the tournament is Auburn, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Furman, Iowa State, Kentucky, Limestone, Missouri, NC State, New Mexico, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Competing for Wisconsin is Daniel Aas, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Robbie Morway and Coalter Smith. Ryan Smith will be competing as an individual.
