Badgers headed to French Lick for Conference Championship
MADISON, Wis.— The Wisconsin men's golf team is headed to French Lick, Indiana to compete in the Big Ten Championship April 29 - May 1.
Here are five things to know before UW opens championship play on Saturday.Â
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin finished in 10th at the Boilermaker Invitational three weeks ago after carding rounds of 307-294-295 to total 896. Griffin Barela led the team, finishing T14 with a four-over-par 217 to mark his fifth top-20 finish of the season. Cameron Huss joined him in the top-20, coming in T20 with a 219 (+6) for his fourth top-20 finish of the season.
2. The Course: The Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort is located in Southern Indiana and features man-made lakes, a handful of elevation changes and volcano-shaped bunkers. The course was designed by Pete Dye and hosted the 2015 Senior PGA Championship. For the tournament, it will be playing as a 7,033-yard par-72.
3. The Tournament: The Big Ten Tournament is hosted each year for all teams competing in the Big Ten Conference. Last season, the team was led by Sam Anderson and Cameron Huss, both finishing T55. All three rounds will begin at 8 a.m. CT.
4. The Field: Competing in the Big Ten Championship are all 14 Big Ten teams- Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Playing for Wisconsin is Daniel Aas, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Robbie Morway and Coalter Smith. Graham Moody is the team alternate.
