Badgers finish fifth at Big Ten Championship

Coalter Smith leads team, named to Big Ten All-Championship team
FRENCH LICK, Ind. — The Wisconsin men's golf team finished the Big Ten Championship in fifth with an 891 (+27). The team shot splits of 284-302-305 to record its best finish at the conference championship tournament since the 2014-15 season when the team finished tied for fifth with Ohio State.
Coalter Smith led the Badgers, finishing fifth with a two-over-par 218. He was named to the Big Ten Conference All-Championship team after recording his second career top-five finish. He shot splits of 73-74-71.
Griffin Barela recorded his eighth career top-10 finish in his final regular-season collegiate tournament. He came in T6 with a three-over-par 219, shooting splits of 69-72-78. He finished in the top-25 at all nine tournaments this season, with three of those finishes in the top-10.
Cameron Huss and Robbie Morway both shot a one-under-par 71 in the first round. Daniel Aas played the first and third rounds with Graham Moody playing as a substitute in the second round.
Wisconsin led the field in eagles with three over the weekend. Morway had two and Smith had one.
No. 19-ranked Illinois won the tournament with an 885 (+21). David Nyfjall of Northwestern shot a one-under-par 215 to take home the medalist honors.
This was the final tournament of the 2021-22 regular season for the Badgers.
