Wisconsin places second at Badger Invitational

Tribus, Legros finish top-10 to lead Badgers
MADISON, Wis. - Led by top-10 finishes from Clayton Tribus and Maxime Legros, Wisconsin rallied to a second-place finish at the team's home Badger Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Texas A&M won the Invitational with 556 points. Illinois State (569), Nebraska (571) and Purdue (573) rounded out the top five in the overall team standings. Northern Illinois' Ben Sluzas (69-66=135, -9) and Texas A&M's William Paysse (68-67=135, -9) tied for first place as individuals.
Tied for first-place earlier in the day, Tribus finished his debut tournament as a Badger with 68-69=137 (-7) overall, including -3 under par in Round 2 to tie for third-place among the individuals. Also in his Badgers debut, Legros completed the Invitational 71-68=139 (-5) climbing nine spots up in Round 2 to finish tied for seventh-place.
Wisconsin's Coalter Smith finished two-over-par with 72-74=146 to finish T-41st, followed by Cameron Huss at T-46th (77-70=147, +3) who climbed 20 spots in the individual standings after Round 1. Teammate Daniel Aas completed his Invitational up five spots to tie for 61st place with 77-72=149 (+5) with an even-par performance on Tuesday.
Wisconsin finished in seventh place (out of 18 teams) after Round 1 at even par with a team score of 288. Senior Clayton Tribus paced the Badgers shooting 68 (-4) and tied for second place in the individual standings, including four birdies in his Wisconsin debut. Teammate and senior Maxime Legros notched a 71 (-1) on the day to tie for 16th and had five birdies of his own, also in his first appearance as a Badger. Coalter Smith (T24, 72 (E)), Cameron Huss (T66th, 77 (+5)) and Daniel Aas (T66th, 77 (+5)) rounded out the Badgers' lineup.
In the overall team standings, Texas A&M led the pack with 279 (-9) followed by Western Carolina (282, -6) and last year's defending champion Illinois State at third (283, -5). Full results for Round 1 of the Invitational are below and also on GolfStat.
The competition will conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 13 with an 8 a.m. CT tee off for teams on holes one and 10. Due to the earlier canceled rounds, the Invitational will only include two rounds overall for 36 holes.
In the Badgers' individual tournament, held at Pleasant View, Ryan Smith finished T10th overall with a 76 in Round 2 (75+76=151 (+9)). Teammates Max Schwarz and McCord Grice at placed 15th overall with 151 over the two rounds, shooting 73 and 78 respectively in Round 2. Complete results of the individual tournament are also below.
