Sophomore earns his first collegiate cross country win on Friday

CHICAGO -- 2022 Big Ten 1500 Meter Champion Adam Spencer showed off his range on Friday afternoon, winning the Maroon Men's Race at the 2022 Loyola Lakefront Invitational at Lincoln Park.

In only his second ever cross country race for the Cardinal and White, Spencer, who owns the No. 5 time in school history in the 1500 meters of 3:47.40, crossed the 8K course in 24 minutes, 4.4 seconds to highlight action for the No. 6 Badgers.

Senior Derick Peters earned his second top-five finish of the cross country season, taking fifth in 24.38.3. Freshman Micah Wilson, was the 10th runner to cross the line in 24:57.60 while competing unattached.

Sophomore Jake Bourget finished in 25:12.8 to place 16th while Leo Richardson collected a top-50 finish.

UW returns home to host the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. Racing starts at 11 a.m. with the "B" races with the championship races to start at 12:20 p.m. Fans can watch the action live on Runnerspace.
