Game Notes

Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin (5-11, 1-4 B1G) continues Big Ten play as it heads to East Lansing on Wednesday to face the Michigan State Spartans at the Breslin Center. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be available on B1G+ and WIBA.

Before the matchup begins, here are five things to know:

  1. B1G WIN: The Badgers secured their first Big Ten win of the season on Sunday afternoon against Minnesota. Julie Pospisilova and Avery LaBarbera both had 20 points and seven rebounds for Wisconsin.

  2. BENCH STEPS UP: The Badger bench helped propel the team to victory on Sunday with 13 points. Seven of those points came from freshman walk-on, Ronnie Porter. Junior walk-on, Natalie Leuzinger, stepped up for Wisconsin in the final minute with a game-winning block as Minnesota attempted to tie the game with a 3-pointer.

  3. TAKING CARE: The Badgers average 16.8 turnovers per game, but were able to cut that number down to 12 against the Gophers. They were able to hold Minnesota to 13 points off of those turnovers.

  4. DETERMINED DEFENSE: Wisconsin recorded 13 steals on Sunday and six blocks. The Badgers average 8.3 steals per game and 3.8 blocks per game. Four of the steals came from graduate student, Avery LaBarbera, and four of the blocks from freshman, Serah Williams, who averages 1.5 blocks a game.

  5. SCOUTING THE SPARTANS: This will be the first of two matchups this season against the Spartans. Michigan State (10-6, 2-3 B1G) is looking to bounce back after falling to No. 13/14 Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans are led by graduate student, Kamaria McDaniel, who is averaging 14.7 points. Additionally, sophomore guard Matilda Ekh has scored 20-plus points in her past two games.
