Badgers travel to Alabama for doubleheader

Wisconsin faces No. 2 North Carolina and Samford in Auburn
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's tennis team play their first doubleheader of the season on Saturday, January 21 in Auburn, Alabama. The first matchup of the day is against no. 2 ranked North Carolina at noon (CT) followed by matches against Samford at 4 p.m. (CT)

Here are five things to know:

1. KNOW THE OPPONENTS: North Carolina is currently ranked second in the country in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, second to only Texas. UNC is undefeated in the spring with a record of 5-0 and has six singles ranked players to go with two doubles ranked teams.
Samford has the same spring record as the Badgers, at 1-0, and are coming off a 5-2 victory against Navy. Samford finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 13-9 and a conference record of 5-2.

2.. LOOKING BACK: The last meeting between Wisconsin and North Carolina was a 6-1 loss back in 2010. The Badgers have an all-time record of 1-12 against the Tarheels.
Wisconsin has never faced Samford, with the meeting between the two on Saturday being their very first clash.

3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: The Badgers are coming off their first regular season win against Marquette. The women had a convincing 6-1 win against their I-94 rivals. No. 82 ranked Ava Markham kept her undefeated singles record in her 6-2, 6-2 win, giving her a record of 4-0 for the spring. Â
