BOX SCORE

MADISON, Wis.
— The Wisconsin men's basketball team hosted its annual Red-White Scrimmage at the Kohl Center on Sunday, giving nearly 3,000 fans in attendance their first look at this year's squad.

Team White earned a 69-51 win led by 15 points scored by AJ Storr, plus a 13-point, 12 rebound double-double for Nolan Winter. Max Klesmit rounded out double-digit scorers for Team White with 13 points.

Storr had one of the highlight plays from the day, throwing down a dunk off of an alley-oop pass from Kamari McGee after a steal.

"I feel very good," Storr said postgame. "I played in front of fans a couple months ago, but this feeling is special."

In addition to Storr, a transfer from St. John's, there were several other Badgers that made their Kohl Center debuts. Freshmen John Blackwell, Jack Janicki, Nolan Winter and Gus Yalden each played their first minutes in front of UW fans.

Winter finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal with no turnovers. He made five of his eight shots from the floor, including 2-for-4 shooting from 3-point range.

The scrimmage was a back-and-forth affair throughout the first half, which saw Team White hold a 29-27 lead at the break. Team White pulled away with 12 minutes left in the second half however, and maintained a 10-plus point lead the rest of the way.

Kamari McGee provided a big spark for Team White, as his energy and activity impacted the game in a number of ways. The junior guard finished with six points, three assists and two steals.

Tyler Wahl led Team Red with 16 points, shooting 7-for-11 from the field (2-2 FT).

Every player on this year's roster saw action in the scrimmage, with 16 of the team's 18 players scoring points.

Gard reiterated how important the depth of this year's team has been, which was on display throughout the scrimmage.

"I've said all along I like this team because of the depth," Gard said. "We've got some younger guys that are challenging older guys for minutes.

"I think everybody understands you can't be complacent. You better perform every day, because we've got a lot of options that can come in and help this team."

Wisconsin will have one more tune-up before beginning the regular season, when the Badgers host an exhibition against UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 1.

UW tips off the regular season on Nov. 6 hosting Arkansas State at the Kohl Center.
