Men's swimming upsets No. 18 Michigan

Badgers down Wolverines and Wildcats on weekend
MADISON, Wis. -- For the first time since 1980-81, the Wisconsin mens swimming and diving team defeated Michigan in a dual meet. The 22nd-ranked Badgers (2-1, 1-0 B1G) wrapped up a triangular on Saturday at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center with a 185-168 win over No. 18 Wolverines. UW also downed Arizona, 240-101.
The Badgers had three of the top-five places in the free as sophomore Zach Ward finished second in 4:30.03 and senior Jude Williams took fifth in 4:33.84. Â
Wisconsin also had two of the top-four finishers in the 100 backstroke. Newark finished second in 46.99 while freshman Nathan Welker touched in 49.36 for fourth place.

Torok continues winning streak
Sophomore Dominik Mark Torok was the only double-event winner on the second day of competition, bringing his weekend total to four victories. The Budapest, Hungary, native won the 200 individual medley in 1 minute, 46.99 seconds. He also claimed the title in the 200 butterfly, touching in an NCAA B qualifying time of 1:45.50.Aslan, Segal wins events
Juniors Yigit Ashlan and Matthew Segal also won events on Saturday. Aslan won 500 free in 4:27.00 while Segal touched first in the 100 breaststroke in 54.19.The Badgers had three of the top-five places in the free as sophomore Zach Ward finished second in 4:30.03 and senior Jude Williams took fifth in 4:33.84. Â
Relays finish second
Wisconsin finished second in both relays on the final day of competition. The Badgers took runner-up honors in the 200 medley relay with the team of Torok, Segal, Taiko Torepe-Ormsby and Ben Wiegand, finishing in 1:27.68. UW was also second in the 400 free relay as Torepe-Ormsby, Wiegand, Andrew Benson and Jake Newmark touched in 2:56.06.Other top finishers
UW had four of the top-six places in the 100 freestyle behind a third-place finish from Torepe-Ormsby in 44.44. Benson touched in 44.80 for fourth while freshman Luukas Vainio finished fifth in 44.90. Wiegand took sixth in 45.11.Wisconsin also had two of the top-four finishers in the 100 backstroke. Newark finished second in 46.99 while freshman Nathan Welker touched in 49.36 for fourth place.

The Badgers have two weeks of training before traveling to Minneapolis for a dual against No. 24 Minnesota on Nov. 3. Events begin at 5 p.m. at the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center.Team scores
