MADISON, Wis. – Coming off a comeback win against the Milwaukee Panthers, the 6-4-5 (2-2-3 Big Ten) Wisconsin Badgers will play their biggest game of the season against the conference-leading Penn State Nittany Lions, Sunday, Oct. 29, at 11:30 a.m. on BTN. The match is the last of the regular season for all conference teams, and will help determine the conference champion, as well as the standings, and seedings for the Big Ten Tournament. The game will also serve as Senior Day for the Badgers.
Here's what you need to know.
1 – B1G Implications – The Big Ten standings are tight right now, with three teams tied for the lead. With Michigan State's regular season over, Penn State and Northwestern are playing for the win. Since Penn State owns the tiebreaker between the two, if they win, they'll be crowned champions. Wisconsin spoiled a potential championship season last season, beating Ohio State during the last match. The Badgers will look to do that again. They Badgers are currently in sixth place with a chance to move up to as high as a tie for fourth place with a win and things breaking right.
2 – Roman Empire – Tied 1-1 against Milwaukee in minute 88,
Roman Eisa ran up to intercept a goal kick in the middle of the field. The forward then outraced the trailing Panthers and buried the game-winner with under three minutes remaining. It was the freshman's first career goal. The Elmhurst, Illinois, native has now started the last five matches for Wisconsin.
Â
3 – Thomas' Third – Eisa's game-winner was only possible because
Thomas Raimbault scored 20 minutes earlier in the match to tie it at one. It was Raimbault's third goal of the season, tying him with
Mitchell Dryden for the team lead. Raimbault's eight points are now the best on the team as well, with seven of those coming in the last six games.

Â
4 – Next Up, Nittany Lions – Penn State is one of the conference's top teams, sitting at 9-3-3, 4-2-1 Big Ten. They've not only scored the most goals in the conference, but sport the best save percentage as well. Keeper Kris Sakes is tied for the lead in save percentage amongst goalkeepers, and is tied with Wisconsin's
Nate Crockford in shutouts with seven in 15 games. Their scoring prowess comes from Peter Mangione, whose nine goals leads the conference. The Badgers trail Penn State 13-22-3 in the all-time series, last winning in 2017.
Â
5 – Senior Day – Sunday's match will serve as Senior Day for the Badgers. Prior to the game, five UW players will be recognized for all the work they have put into the program. The seniors honored will be
Ryan Gallagher,
Bennett Pauls,
Jack Finnegan,
Maxwell Keenan, and
Tim Bielic. Pauls, Finnegan, and Bielic have played for the Badgers in every year of their career. Student manager Brett Schneider will also be recognized.
Extra Time – The game will air on Big Ten Network. Look for live updates on the @BadgerMSoccer X (formerly twitter) page, and @badgermsoccer on Instagram.
Admission is free for all at McClimon Soccer Complex on Sunday for the 11:30 a.m. CT kickoff.
