The Badgers face the Bruins Friday night on Big Ten Network

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's soccer team (2-3-0, 0-1-0 Big Ten) will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the UCLA Bruins (1-3-2, 1-0-0 Big Ten) on Friday, September 19. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT, and the game will air on Big Ten Network.

Here are five things to know about the match.

1 – TARGET PRACTICE – Sophomore Matthew Zachemski scored his second goal on a penalty kick this season when he finished against Maryland. He is now 2-for-2 in penalty kicks with his goal against Bradley earlier in the season. Zachemski had similar success during his freshman season, successfully finding the back of the net against Ohio State.

2 – MARYLAND AT THE MAC – The Badgers could not hold off Maryland's outside attackers during last Friday's contest. Maryland took advantage of a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to take the 1-0 lead into halftime. UW would even the score with a penalty kick goal from Zachemski in the 56th minute. The Terps would go on to score two more goals en route to a 3-1 victory, remaining undefeated on the season.

3 – UW ON THE ROAD – The men's soccer team has yet to play an away game this season, as their scheduled match at Marquette was canceled. The Badgers saw improvement on the road last year, posting a 2-2-2 away record. In their first road game last season, the Badgers took down No. 16 Kentucky, 1-0, in Lexington. Wisconsin also earned a 2-0 conference win over Penn State late in the 2024 season.

4 – SCOUTING THE BRUINS – Wisconsin is 1-0-1 in the all-time series against UCLA. The Badgers dominated last season when the two teams met for the first time since 1983. Wisconsin took down a then No. 12-ranked UCLA squad, 4-1, in front of a home crowd of over 1,300 fans.

The Bruins earned their first win of the 2025 season over Northwestern last Friday. UW will be tasked with defending forward Segi Solans Ormo, who was named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watch List before the season started. Solans Ormo is on a two-game goal streak and scored the game-winner against Northwestern.

5 – HOW TO FOLLOW – Friday's match will be played at Wallis Annenberg Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The game will also air on Big Ten Network, with Christian Miles and Cobi Jones on the call. Live stats can be found at uclabruins.com and live updates will also be given on @BadgerMSoccer on X, as well as @badgermsoccer on Instagram.

5 – EXTRA TIME – UW has dropped its last two contests to teams that are a combined 9-0-2 this season. UW dropped a 1-0 contest to a then-unranked Portland team, a team yet to allow a goal against and who is 5-0-1 and ranked No. 4 in the country. The Badgers also dropped its game to Maryland, a team now sitting at 4-0-1 this year.
