
Badgers win eight events in home opener

Wisconsin begins the season against Notre Dame
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team opened up the season with a dual meet against Notre Dame at Solderholm Aquatic Center on Friday. The Badgers (0-1) fell short to the Fighting Irish (1-0), 163-137 but were able to hit the wall first in eight events.
Standing out for the Badgers was sophomore Dominik Mark Torok. Torok won three individual events including the 200 fly with a NCAA "B" cut time of 1:45.14, the 200 IM in 1:48.25, and the 200 breast in 1:58.00.
Junior Yigit Aslan kept up the momentum for the Badgers, winning the 1000 free in 9:15.58 and the 500 free in 4:29.17. Wisconsin swept the top-three places in both events as Zach Ward finished as the runner-up in 9:19.14 and 4:29.60, respectively, and Jude Williams tied for runner-up honors in the longer race in 9:19.14 while taking third in the shorter race in 4:32.36.
In the diving well, Daniel Muller made his mark, winning both diving events. Muller finished the 3-meter with 355.95 points, followed up by Jan Lanser, who finished fourth with 290.85 points. Muller also claimed first on the 1-meter with 326.63 points while Lanser finished third with 271.43 points.
The other event winner was Matthew Segal, who touched in 54.66 in the 100 breast. He also placed third in the 200 breast in 2:02.53 and third in the 200 IM in 1:50.77.
