MADISON, Wis. – The No. 2 Wisconsin women's hockey team continued its stellar home streak as the Badgers blanked No. 6 Minnesota Duluth, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at LaBahn Arena.
Kelly Gorbatenko,
Britta Curl and
Lacey Eden each lit the lamp for the Badgers (13-2-0, 8-2-0-0-1-0 WCHA) as they shut out the Bulldogs (9-5-1, 6-5-0-0-0-0 WCHA).
After a scoreless first, Gorbatenko broke the silence after capitalizing on a chance in front of the net, and captain Curl snuck one in later in the second period to give UW a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Eden wrapped up the scoring for the Badgers late in the third period with a snipe off the rebound.
Jane Gervais stopped all 20 of the shots she faced for her fourth shutout of the season.

Head Coach Mark Johnson
On Caroline's first game back:
"Certainly the second half of the game Caroline looked more comfortable, she was more relaxed. Anytime you're out for an extended period of time, those first couple shifts back are going to be mentally challenging. Until you get that first hit or get in your first scrum, you realize that you're okay and you can relax, it might take three or four shifts."
On the Badgers' offense:
"We were moving the puck around the perimeter well, and it looked pretty, but we weren't getting a shot off that. If you want to be effective, you must play in front of the net. If they defend that scoring area well, you must be able to create opportunities with shots that go into that space. The puck is going to hit something, it might be the goalie, a shin pad, but can you get to that puck next and make something out of it."
Freshman Kelly Gorbatenko
On capitalizing on the opportunities she gets:
"I'm just trying to make the most of the opportunities I'm given and just help the team with the opportunities I do get."
Junior Jane Gervais
On the successful first period:
"The players had a great first period, I think one of our best in a while. That was certainly very helpful."
