Jackson Sharp wins invitational 3000 meters
CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men's track and field team wrapped up the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational at Gately Stadium in Chicago on Saturday. The Badgers won one event and earned three personal bests on the final day of competition.
In the open 3000 meters, redshirt junior Jack Meijer placed third, running a personal best at 7:57.87. He is now ranked fourth in the Big Ten this season. Junior Evan Bishop finished fourth in a personal record of 7:58.56, which sits sixth in the Big Ten. Junior Rowen Ellenberg placed sixth in 8:02.30.
In other running events, senior Lawrence Johnson finished third in the 200 meters in 21.20. Wisconsin's 4x400-meter relay team of Jalen Williams, Abdullahi Hassan, Liam Belson, and Colin Enz placed fifth in 3:18.41.
Freshman Logan Measner was the top UW finisher in the open mile, placing 10th in a personal best of 4:07.82.
In the triple jump, Justin Kiefel and Liam Belson both leaped 46-10 ¼ with Kiefel finishing eighth due to a better second jump while Belson took ninth.
Redshirt junior Quinn Lansill placed sixth in the high jump with a jump of 6-0 ¾.

Wisconsin hosts the Badger St. Valentine Invitational in Madison on Friday at The Shell. Events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Wisconsin will also send a distance medley relay and other select athletes to the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Indiana, on Saturday.

Distance Standouts
Junior Jackson Sharp turned in an impressive performance in the invitational 3,000 meters, running not only a facility record but a personal best of 7 minutes, 44.10 seconds. Sharp is now No.2 all-time at UW while leading the Big Ten and ranking 10th in the NCAA this season.In the open 3000 meters, redshirt junior Jack Meijer placed third, running a personal best at 7:57.87.
