CHICAGO – The 24th-ranked Wisconsin women's track and field team wrapped up its weekend of competition at the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational at Gately Stadium on Saturday. The Badgers won one event and set numerous personal bests on the final day of competition.
Field events record top-10 marks
Grad student Josie Schaefer won the shot put at 55 feet, 6 inches while redshirt freshman Danni Langseth finished fourth with a personal best throw of 52-2 3/4. Her throw moves into seventh on the UW performance list.
In the invitational pole vault, sophomore Julia Moore tied for sixth with a personal best clearance of 13-4 1/4. Her performance ranks her fourth on the Wisconsin top-10 list and ninth in the Big Ten this season.
Dominating Distance
In the mile, redshirt sophomore Emma Watcke finished second in a personal best time of 4:43.61, beating her previous personal best by over four seconds. Her time ranks 10th in the Big Ten this season. Sophomore Kylie Finger finished third in 4:45.44 and sophomore Mya Bunke took ninth in 4:50.88.
In the invitational 3000 meters, three Badgers finished back-to-back-to-back. Senior Samantha Stieve was the first UW runner to cross the finish line, earning a sixth-place finish in 9.19.18, a new personal best and ranking her sixth in the Big Ten this year. Redshirt junior Shea Ruhly placed seventh in 9:20.12, which is a personal best and places her seventh in the Big Ten. Senior Lucinda Crouch rounded out the Badgers in the event, finishing eighth in 9:23.84.
In the open 3,000 meters, Alexa Westley finished in fourth place with a time of 9:31.70, and Danielle Orie followed right behind her, coming in fifth in 9:32.25.
In the 800-meter run, two Badgers finish in the top 10 as Danielle Bellino took third in a season's best time of 2:06.28, which places her at No. 7 in the Big Ten. Senior Victoria Heiligenthal came in ninth in 2:11.03.

Wisconsin hosts the Badger Valentine Invitational on Friday at the Shell. Events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. The Badgers also send distance medley relays to the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, on Saturday.
