Carlson and Bacon earn All-America honors

Badgers finish top five in events
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 23rd-ranked Wisconsin women's swim team completed the first two days of the NCAA Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. The Badgers are 15th in the team race with 49 points after seven events.
On Wednesday night, the Badgers started off strong with a ninth-place finish in the 800 free relay. Abby Carlson, Blair Stoneburg, Mackenzie McConagha, and Phoebe Bacon collectively hit the wall in 6 minutes,59.13 seconds to earn second-team All-America honors.
On Thursday, Carlson kept the momentum going, recording a personal best time of 4:37.56 in the preliminaries of the 500 freestyle before dropping her time to 4:36.96 in the finals to earn a second-place finish and first-team All-America accolades. Her time lands her lands her with the second-all time fastest mark in Wisconsin history, trailing only Cierra Runge's record time of 4:35.55 set in 2016.
Bacon also made her mark on the second day of competition, taking fifth in the 200 individual medley. The junior touched in a personal best time of 1:53.56 which keeps her second on the UW record list behind the time of 1:50.79 set by Beata Nelson in 2019.
