Wisconsin gains more experience on the water
PRINCETON, NJ -- The Wisconsin women's lightweight rowing team opened up its lightweight racing season on Saturday at the Lightweight Invitational on Carnegie Lake.Â
The Badgers were able to gain more on-water experience to build off from this regatta and continue to work in Madison as the lakes thaw.Â
Wisconsin faced off against Georgetown, Gordon and Iona in two heats of eights, two heats of fours and one heat of doubles.Â

On how the day went
"We saw some really good competition…it was really good racing experience for us, no matter what.
"We are excited to get back to Madison now that we have open water and continue to build from here. It's still early in the season."
On getting ready for California in three weeksÂ
"Simply put, we are going to be more ready for racing. We've built a lot of land fitness through the winter and now we have to translate that to the water through April.
"April is a really good month for us historically, because we are rowing all month and we normally develop a lot of speed, and take that into late April and May."
Up next: The Badgers will return to action on the water on April 22, as they take on Stanford in Redwood Shores, CA.Â
