Temperatures expected to be in the 90s for Badgers’ opener at Camp Randall

MADISON, Wis. – With high temperatures expected to reach the low-90s on Saturday, Wisconsin Athletics officials have outlined a series of precautions and suggestions for fans attending the Badgers' football game against Buffalo at Camp Randall Stadium.

STAY HYDRATED
In extreme heat, hydration is key to maintaining proper health.
  • Fans will be permitted to carry in sealed, unopened bottles of water for Saturday's game (limit two per person).
  • Concession stands and points of sale will be fully stocked with water as Wisconsin Athletics expects to have 125,000 bottles of water on hand, more than double the amount of a typical game day.
  • Water fountains are located throughout Camp Randall Stadium:
    • 1st Level Concourse: Sections R, Z1 and South End Zone
    • 3rd Level Concourse: Sections A, E, I, Q, U
    • 5th Level Concourse: Section P
    • Upper Deck Concourse: Sections CC, EE, GG, II
  • In addition, four multi-person water stations will be available for fans. Those will be located on the east side of the stadium in the fire lane between Gates 2 and 4.
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN
  • With a high UV index anticipated, fans are encouraged to use sunscreen.
  • Hats are recommended not only to shield from the sun but also to keep your head cool.
  • The first 7,500 students to enter through the student gate will receive bucket hats.
STAY COOL
  • UW will be setting up fans in several locations inside Camp Randall Stadium, including:
    • the north end of the stadium near the student section entrance
    • the east side fire lane (misting fans)
    • the third level concourse on the west side of the stadium
  • Fans are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for the hot temperatures. Lightweight, light-colored clothing and breathable fabrics are advised.
ADDITIONAL GAME DAY STAFF
  • In addition to the typical emergency services staff on site, UW Athletics will be staffing the game with additional medical personnel. Madison Fire Department will also have additional personnel at the game.
In the event of a medical emergency, immediately go to First Aid or notify a security guard, usher, police officer or paramedic in your area. There are three First Aid locations in Camp Randall Stadium:
  • in the upper deck behind Section FF
  • in the fifth level concourse behind section T
  • in the south end zone concourse
Wisconsin Athletics' top priority at all home events is the safety of participants and fans in attendance. All attendees are encouraged to follow these guidelines.
