Sania Copeland struck first, driving to the basket and shooting a crafty layup. Michigan came back with some fire, raising the score to 7-2 after a quick 5-0 run, but the Badgers sought out a response. A mirage of three-pointers from Copeland and Halle Douglass brought the Badgers within two, before Michigan drained another three. Serah Williams followed up with a layup with 4:20 left on the clock, but after that, the Badgers did not score again and finished the quarter down 17-10.
Copeland drained a three-pointer to kickoff the second quarter, her eighth point of the contest and her second triple. Following this, the Badgers unfortunately fell into a bad scoring spell. Michigan just kept knocking down baskets and left UW with little response. Wisconsin headed into the locker room down 36-21 at half.
Wisconsin came out in quarter three with a much stronger look than the ten minutes prior, squaring away its offense early on. The Badgers drained nine points in the first three minutes, with contributions from Williams, Douglass and Ronnie Porter, who knocked down a triple. Wisconsin notched 14 points this quarter, but Michigan went off and recorded 23, leading 59-35 with ten minutes remaining.
