MADISON, Wis. ̶ Wisconsin's Serah Williams and Tessa Grady took a clean sweep of the conference honors this week, with Williams named Big Ten Player of the Week and Grady being awarded Big Ten Rookie of the Week. This is the first time in program history that the Badgers have won both Big Ten awards in the same week.
Williams, a member of the 2022-23 Big Ten Rookie Team, was awarded three Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards just a season ago, but this is her first time being recognized as conference player of the week. The award comes after the Brooklyn, N.Y. native led the Badgers to two-straight victories against Minnesota and Rutgers. In the sophomore's most recent performance against Rutgers, Williams scored 31 points, tying her career-high, while amassing 12 rebounds and four blocks. Williams secured her ninth double-double of the season, and sixth consecutive, tying her for third all-time in consecutive games with a double-double in program history. The four blocks moved the forward into seventh in all-time blocks at Wisconsin, with 111 after just 48 career games. Williams is the first Badger to be named Big Ten Player of the week since Imani Lewis claimed the title back on Feb. 15, 2021.
Grady collects her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award and is the second Badger this season to claim the title after D'Yanis Jimenez earned it back on Dec. 18, 2023. The Dublin, Ohio native dropped five three pointers in Wisconsin's 59-56 victory over Minnesota on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Grady secured a career-high in made three pointers while also tying her career-high in points with 15. The freshman was an electric spark off the bench, and single handedly outscored Minnesota's bench, 15 points to nine. Grady's performance ties her for first in program history in three-pointers made in a contest by a freshman.
