Men’s soccer falls 2-0 to MSU on the road

Two early goals help Spartans over the Badgers

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The No. 25 Wisconsin Badgers men's soccer team (6-4-1, 1-3-1 Big Ten) lost 2-0 to the Michigan State Spartans (5-5-2, 4-2-0 Big Ten) on Friday.

How it happened
The Spartans took an early lead in the ninth minute. They scored again in the 21st minute to take a 2-0 lead over the Badgers.

Wisconsin regained momentum after the second setback but went into the half trailing by two.

The Badgers played more in their opponent's half in the second frame with Michigan State set up defensively with the lead.

Despite generating more opportunities in the second half, MSU's defense repeatedly withheld the Badger forwards from breaking through on the Spartan goalkeeper. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the Spartans.

UW totaled eight corners in the game, five of which came in the second half.
