MADISON, Wis. — The quartet of
Adam Spencer,
Abdullahi Hassan,
Jackson Sharp and
Jalen Williams posted the second-fastest distance medley relay time in program history to highlight action for the Wisconsin men's track and field team at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday.
The relay squad finished fourth overall in the loaded field thanks to a time of 9 minutes, 21.07 seconds, just over a second off the school record of 9:19.99 set during last year's Alex Wilson Invitational.
The group featured three school record holders, including Spencer (mile), Hassan (800 meters) and Sharp (5000 meters).
The Badgers also won two events on the day and saw top 10 performances across multiple events.
Sam Amusan had a strong day, winning the 200 meters in 21.60. Amusan finished second in the 60-meter sprint at 6.83 after winning the preliminary race at 6.84.
Rowen Ellenberg took home the 3000 meters after crossing the line in 8:09.99.
Among UW's nine top 10 placements,
Joe dosReis finished second in the mile at 4:02.74. Pierce Siegne trailed close behind, finishing in fourth at 4:03.64. In the 400 meters, Elliot Harris finished third in 48.31 seconds.
Sam Craig and
Oliver Paleen put together formidable runs in the 3000 meters alongside Ellenberg as Craig finished in third at 8:13.74 while Paleen earned fifth in 8:29.23.
Johnny Livingstone, a recent transfer into the program from Tulsa, competed unattached in the 3000 meters and finished second at 8:13.39.
