Day 2 of Windy City Invitational resumes at 11:00 a.m.

CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men's track & field team won two events at Friday's Badger Windy City Invitational in Chicago as senior Abdullahi Hassan set a school record in the 800 meters.

Hassan crossed the line in 1 minute, 46.61 seconds, breaking Zach Mellon's previous school record of 1:47.45. His time is the second fastest in Division I this season.

Redshirt freshman Micah Wilson was the other winner on the day, as he took home the 5000-meter invite. Wilson finished at 13:53.32 en route to a new personal best in the event.

On the sprints side, Jalen Williams had a strong run in the 400-meter Higginbottom (invite), finishing fifth at 47.55. Giovanni Wearing set a personal best in the 60 meters, finishing in 6.86 seconds in the preliminaries.

Field athletes earned several top-10 performances today, highlighted by Jason Swarens, Justin Kiefel and Hunter Cook.

Swarens finished fourth in the weight throw thanks to a 69 feet, 2 ½ inches (21.09m) toss. Jacob Bugella placed eighth with a heave of 64-08 ½ (19.72m).

Kiefel placed fourth in the long jump with a season-best leap of 22-10 ½ (6.97m), just shy of his personal record. 

Finally, Cook was strong in the pole vault, finishing fourth with a clearance of 16-3 ¼ (4.96m).
The mile invite rounded out the day with Pierce Seigne and Joe dosReis finishing top 10 in a loaded field. Seigne finished ninth at 4:03.61, while dosReis finished 10th at 4:04.72.

Up Next: The Badgers kick off Day 2 of the Windy City Invitational on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT. Women's pole vault and men's and women's high jumps will get the day started followed by the shot put and the women's 200 meters.
