WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —
John Blackwell scored a team-high 18points off the bench and the Badgers battled No. 3 Purdue on the road, but ultimately came up short in a 78-70 loss at Mackey Arena on Sunday.
Tyler Wahl had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Badgers (19-12, 11-9 Big Ten), while
AJ Storr also scored 17 points.
For the Boilermakers (28-3, 17-3), Zach Edey had 25 points and 14 rebounds in his home finale, while Fletcher Loyer added 15 points and Braden Smith added 10 points.
A four-point play from Loyer helped Purdue take a 40-26 lead, and the Boilermakers took a 44-33 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Badgers fought back in the second half, cutting the deficit to four on two separate occassions. But the Boilermakers answered with 3-pointers each time, first by Smith and then by Caleb Furst.
Up next, Wisconsin awaits its opening game of the Big Ten tournament on Thursday.
